TECHNOLOGY FOR MILITARY NOW BEING USED ON CARS…
Eight Millimeter Plastic Adhesive Now Being Used To Protect Painted Surfaces on Vehicles!!!

Operation Desert Storm, better known as The Gulf War, was a successful military operation in Iraq in 1990.  The mostly aerial fought battle brought on a new era of military technology. The Global Positioning System or GPS, effectively pinpointed targets that devastated Suddam’s Republican Guard. Today, this technology is used by everyday citizens to navigate the highways and byways of their own cities.

Another groundbreaking piece of technology was a strong and durable plastic adhesive engineered to be applied to the rotor blades of helicopters and leading edges of fighter jets.  During the first phase of the war, many helicopter blades and jet wings were being damaged by the desert sands and debris that was kicked up during takeoffs and landings.  This plastic adhesive technology was designed to withstand this abuse, absorbing the damage that would normally be taken by the aircraft.  Therefore being more cost effective to replace the plastic adhesive, than to replace aircraft parts worn by the sand, saving the military tens of thousands of dollars in replacement parts.

After the Gulf War ended, this technology took to the streets, literally.  Auto detailers began offering it to their customers to protect their vehicle’s paint from stone chips, scratches, and bumper scuffs, thus giving it the name Paint Protection Film.  Several companies, such as, 3M and Venture Shield, began marketing the product and selling it to distributors around the world.

In April 2009, Gigi’s Cleaning Company of Waterbury, Vermont, sent her Head Detailer, Karen Bickel, to San Diego, CA. to learn about this product and receive training on how to apply it.  Gigi’s Cleaning Company is now offering this mobile service throughout Washington, Lamoille, Chittenden counties and surrounding areas.  Ms. Bickel will travel to and install on site at the customer’s location.
